THE PFEIFERS

The Pfeifer family is one that knows the true meaning of the term, “fighting on!” The Pfeifers have been pressing forward and fighting on in their walk with Christ for over 70 years. In the 1930s, our grandfathers began singing together and traveling to campmeetings and tent revivals all across the state of Ohio. There was a unique anointing on these two men, and God richly blessed each time the two stood to sing with guitar and mandolin in hands, as well as their trusted songbook, which contained more than 100 songs written by the two.
Years later the torch was passed on to Don Pfeifer, who traveled throughout the country, sharing the message of the Gospel, preaching at churches, crusades, campmeetings and wherever the opportunity was presented. In 1979, when his daughter, Candy, decided to leave college and form a musical group with several of her long-time friends, her father was supportive and encouraging, even allowing the group to accompany him on crusades. That group, known at the time as The Believers, eventually became the group that today is collectively known as The Pfeifers.
Over the years, the ministry of The Pfeifers has evolved and experienced change; however, God’s anointing and blessings still remain. The Pfeifers of today include Don Pfeifer’s oldest son, John, long-time friend, Mary Jane Carter, who has been with the group for the past 24 years, and Candy, an original member. The group travels in excess of 150 days each year, sharing the message of the Gospel in song in churches, concert halls, auditoriums and arenas.
We are thankful for our family heritage, and we are equally thankful for the blessings God continues to bestow upon us. Our sincere prayer is that our lives and the ministry we have been entrusted with will glorify Christ. Our desire is that we will always show care and compassion to others and continually reach out to the lost. The Christian life is not a spectator sport, and we are thankful God has allowed us to serve Him together.
We invite you to serve Him with us...step into this site, look around and stay as long as you like. We hope you will be blessed and encouraged to keep “fighting on!”
Serving Him Together!
John, Candy & Mary Jane

Most Wanted Gathering

image
Click here for printable letter for you or your congregation pfeifermwgletter.pdf

The Most Wanted Gathering is a very effective Friday Night outreach service and a Saturday Morning Ladies Conference that will strengthen and grow your church.
In preparation for the event we ask you to pass out one of our 10 Most Wanted Cards to each family in your church. These cards have spaces for the names of friends and relatives that need to be a part of your church family. We would then like for you to bring those people on Friday night at 7:00 to the Most Wanted Gathering where The Pfeifers will be in concert and I will give my story of deliverance from alcoholism. We will follow this by a time of decision for salvation! Each family will also be given a few Guest Passes, (that briefly describe the event) to hand out to the people they would like to bring.
In the Saturday morning ladies conference Mary Jane Carter will relate her struggles through divorce, unforgiveness, the low self image that followed and the healing God has performed in her life. This will take place from 9:30 to 10:30!
From 10:30 to 11:00 the ladies would have a brunch that can be prepared and served by the men of the church if possible!
From 11:00 until Noon, Candy Pfeifer will relate her story of deliverance from fear and developing into the woman of faith that God intends for all women!
The materials for the Most Wanted Gathering are available to down load from our web site www.pfeifers.com or can be ordered from our office.

We heard you in Chilliwack, New Year's eve, were "blown away" by the powerful anointing on your ministry. Now a days most Christian bands try to make it big by excelling in trying to be very funny, entertaining etc, but your group radiated Jesus Christ. What a breath of fresh air. The other groups that night were also very good, including the spiritual dimension, but you were exceptionally powerful. May God bless you with many more years of fruitful ministry.

John, Candy, and Mary
Thank you so much for your kindness, professionalism, and Christian witness while you were with us @ Love & Truth Church in Jackson. It would have been so easy, and even expected to a degree, for you guys to "phone it in" and "move on down the road". However you sang, played and ministered like the house was full to overflowing. I have heard so many positive statements about that evening from those in attendance, and from some who only heard about it and wish they had been there. It was truly a blessing.
I do hope and pray that you have some pleasant memories of your stop-over with us to the point that we might try to do it again sometime "down the road" with better results.
May God bless your efforts for HIm!May you all have a very Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year!
Be blessed

Just wanted to thank you for such a wonderful service this past Sunday.  It was so good to see you after all these years.   Your songs and words were just what we needed.   Sunday Evening the Church Board was praising you for the best group we have had. There were testimonies in the Evening service to how God had touched people. It was fantastic. So thank and God's blessings on your ministry

Another super perfomance that every one there loved. I love you guys. Everything about your show is so real and entertaining from the music, to the stories, jokes,& of course "the 12 days of Christmas", which I managed to be part of, Seven Swans a Singing. The first sound out of my mouth proved I sing like a frog. We enjoy your show very much every year and we can't think of
ever not being at your show. Thanks again, Dave Fairbrother
PS No part of your show should ever be removed.
__________

I just had to let you know how your CD titled "workin our faith" blessed me tonight. I was listening to it on my way home from choir rehearsal and was especially blessed by God Leads Us Along. I had not heard or sung this for some time. May God continue to bless and use you. I hope you can come to the Seattle area again soon.

__________

Thank you for coming to Steelville last night. I use to listen to you on
Dominion network. I can no longer get that network because they cancelled
our life time membership so I haven't heard you in a very long time. I was
excited when I saw you on Meramec Music Show's program. I enjoyed you even
more in person than on tv. May God richly bless you. Thanks again.
____________

We just finished watching the DVD "Then & Now Live" that I purchased at the
Freedom Celebration. Hands down this is the best gospel DVD I have ever
bought (& I have a bunch). God has truly given you folks a musical talent &,
more importantly, a gift of evangelism. This video will be a tool for me in
my "recruiting efforts" for the Lord. Hope to see you again real soon. God
bless you.

Hi Pfeifers,
I really enjoyed seeing you at Myrtle Beach in April.
I especially loved the moving of the Holy Spirit in the Women's meeting on Thursday morning. Candy did a great job in leading us in worship.
I love the song that the Pfeifers sang many years ago called "I Claim The Blood" I saw them sing it on the Nancy Harmon show.
What a Blessing I received from that !!!
God Bless,

I just wanted you to know how absolutely blown away we were with your music
this past Saturday night in Terrell. I have been going to SGM concerts for
many years and have pretty much seen and heard it all. This was the first
time that we have seen you in concert and words cannot even begin to decribe
what we felt when you were on stage. You are all greatly talented, gifted
and heavily anointed. Please, please come back down in our area soon.

__________

Just a note to say thank you and praise the comforting way God works. Last
fall my sister-in-law convinced me to go to the Watermellon Bust in our
area. Not really knowing a lot about gospel music other than I have enjoyed
it I agreed. Your music was stupendis! To make a long story short, a few
weeks later my sister-in-law's home burned and her collection of gospel
music was gone. Not only had she lost her home, but she also is batteling
lymphoma. She and her husband stayed with us until they were able to find a
new place to live. We work together so we carpooled to work each morning and
the one thing that got us both on the right track was the only CD that was
left. It was the one she had given me that had The Battle of Jerico and How
Great Thou Art. I have since given it back to her, her cancer is in
remission and they are getting back on their feet. Isn't it wonderful that
God sends such things our way just when we need them most? Thank you all
again for a wonderful concert and for giving us both strength through your
music to make each day begin with a song.

__________

I wanted to send you a short note. We have enjoyed your group and heard
you many times in the past several years. However we only started receiving your
e-mails since this years NQC. WE have enjoyed and been blessed by each of your
e-mails they are timely and thought provoking. We drove up from Cincinnati for
the Saturday night service at Heritage Memorial Church. The service was a
blessing as was your groups ministry. Thank you for your answer to God's call.
You are a blessing to our lives.God bless as you continue true to your call.

__________

John,
Just a quick note to let you know what a blessing the group was to me during the
services at Heritage Sat. & Sun. evenings. What a great celebration. Thank you for your testimony and the ministry that the Lord has given you. Your music continues to bless my home and my life. Keep on keepin' on 'til the Lord comes!
Thanks again,

Brother John,
Excellent Christmas story! Thanks for sharing! I am using it in a meeting this week if you don't mind. I got my bb-gun earlier today at James Cancer center. My MRI was clear, I do not go back for a year! You wanted four years ago what I got for Christmas. I remember the night the oil was put upon and your prayer. I am not the same man as I was back then. I was a good guy, now a spirit filled God guy on a mission. I prayed so much for Glenda. I think we all get the same thing for Christmas this year, Jesus!

Thanks for the special time in the Lord. We really enjoyed everything, we
always enjoy you in concert but this was special, just like old fashion

can work a miracle.

Thanks for the truths,

__________

Thank you for an awesome weekend in the presence of God at the South Texas District Laymen's Retreat. It was so wonderful being with you again after 25 years. Williams Memorial Church of the Nazarene in Bethany, OK, holds many special memories and The Pfiefers are a huge part of those memories. Your singing was anointed back then, and now, through all the twists and turns of life, your singing and your message continues to be anointed and more so.
It was good to have a chance to visit with Mary Jane. John's message was such an encouragement to me...never give up praying for your family and loved ones. God is still on the throne and He is not finished working.
Please remember my children in your prayers...Laura, Heather, John, and Tiffany, and my wife's boys, Travis and Kevin. Somehow, we failed to instill in them the same passion for Jesus that we have. I know God is able. I, like you, have grown through adversity. The breakup of my marriage in 1987 and the death of my 7 year old grandson in 1999 was devastating. But God, through His tender loving care and guidance, nurtured me to where I stand today, a child of God that can really sing, "Joy Comes In The Morning." He brought Brenda into my life 4 years ago who is an indescribable helpmate. She was a widow of 25 years that had no intention of remarrying (same as me). But God had other plans!!! On the 21st of this month, we will celebrate our 3rd wedding anniversary and we are definitely still on our honeymoon!
Your music through the CDs continue to bless and inspire me. You will always be in my prayers.
Blessings, T. R.

South Texas Laymens Retreat

Wow what a weekend that was. It was my first time to attend laymen's
retreat. I always thought it was for the "OlD" people but wow. It was such
an awsome weekend. I was not ready to leave. We talked on the way home about
what will they have to do next year to top that one. There is NO way they
can ever recreate such a spirit filled weekend. It is so nice to have a
group that was so spirit filled and in touch with God and cared for the
people like "YALL" did. I now have a new favorite group. We try to only
follow group with a true love of God and travel for the cause of Christ.
Thanks agian for making a such a rememberable weekend. You hit home with all
that was said. I am off to a new outlook. I will keep the group in my
prayers.

________________

I wanted to email you and thank you for changing my life. You visited the church I had gone to a few times with my neighbor in February 2008 - Maugansville Bible Brethren Church. Listening to your testimonies and your music made the Holy Spirit work in me. Up to that point my life had not been the best and I experienced many things that made me feel unworthy. I wept and went to the altar and accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior. On August 17, 2008 I was baptized by immersion and on August 24, 2008 my husband and I became members of the church. I am a new Christian with a lot to learn and experience. Thank you for sharing your life with me and showing me how great God is. I truly hope that many more people are touched as I was when they see your ministry. May God bless each and every one of you and may you always be enveloped with His Grace and His Love.
Sincerely, E.H.

I actually use to travel with the Pfeifers on occasion when I was younger. Mary has always been my favorite singer! God gifted me with a passion for music at a young age. I married my wonderful wife Stephanie in 2008. She encouraged me to follow the dreams I've always had, which is to share the Gospel through music, and attend "The Recording Workshop." Now, God directed me here with these old folks !!

Birthplace - Washington Court House, OH
Birthday - 2/5/88
Favorite Scripture - Matthew 6:33
Favorite Song - Jesus Saves - I know I'm going to be made fun of for that, but I'm kind of young and I grew up listening to Mary so...oh well!!
Spiritual Influence - Grandpa Charlie...If I grow up to be half the man he is, I'm doing good. And of course, Grandma Ethel...she's my Bible reference when I have questions!

What Others Are Saying At A Glance

"I produce almost 90 events a year at LifeWay's corporate headquarters, and 50 of them are employee chapel services. I've hosted a 'who's who' of A-list Christian artists and authors. I must tell you how amazed I was at the move of the Holy Spirit when The Pfeifers performed in our employee chapel. From the first notes of the first song, it was apparent that this was not going to be our usual chapel service. Our employees were led in such a wonderful worship experience that day ! The Pfeifers showed us Jesus through their music, the teaching from God's Word and their warm demeanor. Thank-you Pfeifers - for being so open to the Holy Spirit, for your musical and technical excellence, and - for being so "low maintainence" to work with !
I can't wait to bring you back to Life Way !
David Hassell - Corporate Events Specialist - Office of the President - LifeWay Christian Stores

“The Pfeifers truly excite me. This is a magnificient singing group.  They can give you Southern Gospel. They can give you an evangelistic touch, and they can give you the ‘40s big band sound. They are amazing. Mary Jane Carter is way underrated.  By the standards of any era of Gospel Music, they are great.”
Roy Pauley - Contributing Editor - The Singing News Magazine

“The Pfeifers are first class. Their performances are always great.  Six encores in one performance is a good indication that people love them.”
Earl Aycock - Concert Promoter - Meridian, MS

“The Pfeifers are one of the few professional Southern Gospel groups to ever be invited to Thomas Road Baptist, and they did a super job. We definitely plan to have them again.”
Robbie Hiner - Minister of Music - Thomas Road Baptist Church - Lynchburg, VA

“Without any doubt, one of the most talented groups in Gospel Music is The Pfeifers. Notice the phrase, ‘Gospel Music;’ the abilities of this group place them among the best in any form of Christian music, whether it be Southern Gospel, Christian Country or Inspirational.”
Danny Jones - Editor - Singing News Magazine

“I highly recommend The Pfeifers. They are an exceptional vocal and instrumental group who has performed more than once at my theater in Branson, MO.”

Main Biography
